Knock, knock, knock, hello?
Na de topdag in Kaikoura gasten we er meteen vandoor met de scheetbus. De volgende bestemming was het Abel Tasman nationaal park en dat was best een eindje rijden. Het was flink druk op de weg. Stukken drukker dan de enkele camper die we tot nu toe telkens maar tegenkwamen, een teken dat we dichter bij het dicht(er)bevolkte noordereiland komen. Na onderweg nog van een prachtige zonsondergang genoten te hebben, besloten we de nacht in Blenheim te spenderen. Het top 10 holidaypark vroeg 34 dollar voor een nacht dus we gingen weer voor wildkamperen. We vroegen tijdens ons diner bij de subway wat goede plekken zouden zijn en besloten uiteindelijk in een woonwijk, naast een motel en onder een lantaarn te gaan staan. Dat leek ons een prima plek. Het was weer een recordtijd van half negen toen we in bed lagen. Midden in de nacht werden we opeens wakker van geklop op de bus: klop, klop, klop, hello? en gevoel aan de deuren. We schrokken ons rot en hielden ons stil. Het was vijf over half drie en na wijs beraad besloten we de bus ergens anders heen te rijden. Deze keer op het parkeerterrein van een motel waar niemand ons zou lastigvallen. Het duurde even voordat we de slaap weer konden vatten.
Weer zo’n indrukwekkend natuurververschijnsel van Nieuw-Zeeland. Water wat na duizenden jaren zijn weg omhoog vindt met superheldere, bubbelende bronnen tot gevolg.
Vanaf Takaka gingen we een grevelweg op die bol stond van de bochten om bergen en heuvels heen. We kwamen, na 1001 bochtjes, in de namiddag op de camping aan en zette voet naar de zee. Een prachtig uitzicht, dat beloofde wat voor de volgende dag! Ondertussen was Martijn al hout aan het zoeken in het bos om een kampvuur te maken ( dat mag hier gewoon) naast onze camper. Het bleek nog een hele kluif want om in een land als Nieuw Zeeland redelijk droog hout te vinden is natuurlijk niet makkelijk. Uiteindelijk hadden we loon naar werken, en kon er een kampvuur gemaakt worden. Martijn was in zijn element en Carolien was ondertussen het eten aan het maken op ons gasbrandertje. Het eten was heerlijk en we genoten van de warmte van het kampvuur:

Het havenstadje Picton was vandaag onze bestemming, vanaf hier nemen we uiteindelijk de ferry naar het noorder eiland (Wellington). 
we besloten om onze boeking om te zetten naar morgen 14.00 uur (zondag 19 mei). De ferry gaat namelijk via de Marlborough sounds naar het noordereiland, zo kunnen we in stijl afscheid nemen we van het zuider eiland!

Poeh hé, ik ben blij dat jullie de deur dicht gehouden hebben.
Moet er niet denken dat….. niet meer doen hè, dat wildslapen.
Ik kan me helemaal voorstellen dat jullie verknocht zijn aan Nieuw Zeeland.
Echt waar, op de foto’s is het al adembenemend, laat staan als je er in het echie bent.
Zo stil als het dan is, is het dan niet weer heerlijk als jullie in de bewoonde wereld zijn?
Hahahah, jullie zijn nu niet maanden in de war maar gewoon een daggie, het is vandaag maandag 19 mei, zijn jullie al naar de Chinese ambassade geweest voor de visa’s?
Hebben ze het daar dan ook over die aardbeving?
Nou schatten, het zijn twee zalige dagen achter elkaar, gisteren lekker kletsen en vandaag weer veel verhalen op de site.
